Inside a Marketing Agency – Emily’s Story at Clout

Emily’s journey into marketing didn’t follow a textbook path; it came with a creative spark, a love of storytelling and just a touch of movie magic. Inspired by those iconic communications roles in The Devil Wears Prada and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, she saw early on that marketing was more than just strategy and analytics. It was a space where ideas could thrive and creativity could take the driver’s seat. Since joining Clout, Emily has become a quiet force behind the scenes, becoming someone who knows how to bring structure to creative thinking and calm to a fast-moving campaign.

From shaping strategy to refining copy, building out websites to planning content shoots, she does a little bit of everything and does it well. She’s been part of the Clout crew for a while now, so we thought it was about time to share her story.

Inside Life in a Marketing Team

Some people take a while to find their rhythm in a new role; Emily wasn’t one of them. She jumped into agency life with an ease that made it feel like she’d always been here. From the beginning, she showed a natural ability to stay calm under pressure and keep projects moving without getting caught up in the noise.

Whether she’s juggling a complex web build, reviewing SEO changes, mapping out content or jumping in to support mid-project, Emily brings consistency and clarity to everything she touches. Her instinct to step in and offer support, even before it’s asked for, is one of the reasons she’s such a core part of the team. It didn’t take long for everyone to realise that when Emily’s across something, it’s under control.

What It’s Like Working at Clout

While the projects and campaigns are cool, they aren’t the only things that make Emily happy to come to work each day; it’s the people. Clout is the type of workplace where everyone chips in, shares wins and keeps up the energy even on our busiest day. Whether it’s collaborating on a campaign, troubleshooting a website error or just helping each other to meet a deadline, there’s a strong sense that we’re all in this together that keeps the synergy amongst the team.

My favourite thing about working at Clout is the fun, supportive and uplifting work environment we have, which makes showing up to work every day a pleasure instead of a chore, ’ she says.

That shared momentum is one of the reasons Emily has found her stride as a marketer so quickly. She’s been given the freedom to develop her skills and grow both personally and professionally.  The culture at Clout strikes the right balance between productivity without the pressure and social without the fluff. Of course, the occasional surprise chocolate chip cookie from Carly doesn’t hurt either. It’s the small things, paired with the big-picture thinking, that have made Clout feel less like a workplace and more like a place to build something meaningful.

Creative Life Outside the Office

When the workday wraps, Emily’s creativity doesn’t exactly take a break. Whether she’s heading to a midweek painting class or spending an afternoon sketching with a coffee in hand, she’s always finding new ways to stay inspired outside the inbox. Her downtime is usually a mix of calm rituals and low-key challenges – reading in the sun, finishing the New York Times mini crossword in record time, or catching up on her favourite podcast (Pretty Lonesome by Madeline Argy is high on rotation right now).

She has a real appreciation for the slower moments and a natural curiosity that carries into everything she does. While she loves the beach and often daydreams about working with brands like Roxy, there’s one small twist – she has a mild fear of the ocean. You won’t catch her jumping off a boat or swimming out to the shark net at Cottesloe. For Emily, creativity thrives in calm spaces, and that sense of comfort and self-awareness shows up in the way she works, lives and makes time for the things that bring her joy.
